Regardless of whether your wig is real or synthetic, you should always allow it to air dry. Never use a blow dryer on a wig, as it will just cause split ends and general damage. Place your wig on a form smaller than its overall size. If you hang a wig on a large object, such as a Styrofoam form the same size as your head, you’ll actually stretch it out too much. Use a small head form or tall and round object, such as a large can of hairspray.

You should only use cool or cold water to wash and rinse synthetic wigs. Human hair wigs should be washed and rinsed in cool or room temperature water. In addition, a sink with cool water and a capful of synthetic or human hair wig shampoo are also necessary, but you need make sure to use shampoo and conditioner which are suitable for your wig type.

When you wash the wig, which must be gently putted into the soapy water and swirl it around. And then let it soak for 10 to 20 minutes. After that, you need use cool or room temperature water to rinse it. Carefully squeeze the excess water from the wig and let it drip into the sink. Never twist the hair around to get rid of extra water, it will stretch and tear the strands.

Regarding to washing times for wigs, if you wear it daily for about ten hours, you need wash it in every two weeks. Sure, some other factors also affect the frequency of washing wigs such as the weather and hair quality etc.

Never use an air blower to make the wig dry, it will destroy the hair and tangled easily. The proper is to place the wig on a thick, dry towel and let it start to air dry. If needed, you also can take the wet wig on a raised form to finish drying. However, before you want to comb wigs or styling on it, you must wait until the wig is completely dry.
